So I think all that future plan stuff will be re-evaluated. And that is arguably not the case at the present date. I think all that talk was built upon the presumption that 2042 would be a good launching spot for them for the future. I think Zampella and crew will also obviously have a hand in this and their own ideas about where to proceed. I think there will be a re-evaluation of Battlefield's place in the market after 2042 and what is the best way to proceed. The other question regarding the future BF universe is how the reception of the specialist is playing into their calculus regarding future plans now. I think they would catch a shit load of flak for that. Especially if the next installment isn't a typical BF game, but more of a hero shooter as Tom Henderson rumored would be the case. Like, 2042 is supposed to be the foundation of this universe that they want to create, and I can't imagine that dropping support for 2042 early and forging ahead with those plans would be a great start for that universe. I assume they are factoring that into their plans regarding 2042.
Normally I'd say that 2042 will be pretty short lived and receive pretty minimal support, but the announcement of the "BF Universe" and their plans for that give me pause.
